UK Mothering Sunday - March 26th 2017
Posted on
This loving event is celebrated at a different time to the US and most of the World. The UK and Ireland celebrate on the 4th Sunday of Lent, which originated hundreds of years ago when people in Britain would worship at their Mother Church on that day, and often children or apprentices in services would be given time off to visit there families. They would see their Mothers for the first time maybe, since the previous year, and bring her cakes or flowers. Even though that practice died out, and attendance dropped off in Churches, the celebration continues.
